Ben Simmons’ Choice of Kings Over Warriors Raises Eyebrows

The Golden State Warriors had shown interest in Ben Simmons during the offseason, but their rivals, the Sacramento Kings, took a decisive step that none of the other teams did. According to Marc J. Spears of Andscape, the Kings were the only NBA franchise to send a representative to Miami to observe Simmons’ workout before signing him.

Spears discussed this exclusive approach in an interview with ABC10’s Kevin John, highlighting that all 30 teams had the chance to scout Simmons, yet Sacramento was the only team to seize that opportunity. The Kings’ commitment influenced Simmons’ decision, as he started exploring real estate in Sacramento after Kings GM Scott Perry attended his workout. With the immediate demands of a championship contender like Golden State absent, Simmons found the environment at Sacramento suitable for reviving his career.

The Warriors, set to begin their regular season against the Los Angeles Lakers without three key players—Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody, and Kristaps Porzingis—face depth challenges. As they navigate these roster issues, Simmons’ absence from their lineup deepens the intrigue around his choice, especially considering his recent performances, which hint at a potential rebirth of his dynamic playmaking abilities.
