Recent reports indicate that the Los Angeles Lakers are actively looking for a trade that would help them meet roster compliance before tomorrow evening’s deadline. NBA insider Brett Siegel mentioned that forward Dalton Knecht, drafted 17th in the 2024 NBA Draft, is central to these trade discussions. Sources shared that instead of waiving him, the Lakers are attempting to move Knecht and have been in contact with the Bucks, Bulls, and Jazz.
As the Lakers aim to adjust their roster, there’s also a proposal involving Bronny James. In a suggested three-team trade with the Grizzlies and Kings, the Lakers could acquire Walter Clayton Jr. and a 2027 second-round pick. This deal would see James moving to the Kings while Knecht heads to the Grizzlies. Although acquiring Clayton, a former March Madness standout, does not directly address the Lakers’ pressing need for a backup center, it could provide added depth in the backcourt.
